2013 Clues

CLUE #1

Dan's fled the farm to some alarm, & now he roams the city.
A shoe he's shed I report with dread, alas - 'tis such a pity.
 
Were you to succeed the rules you must read, so let the games begin.
For the cash from the stead a button you will need, which place holds the shoe within?
 
Find it one must or it's a bust; the clues give I will be witty.
So start the fun - don't be out done; thus ends this little ditty.

 CLUE #2

Our name from the King once of Munster,
Who ruled in the 10th Century.
Our land dairy did we, bachelor brothers of 3,
With blarney we did pass the muster!

 CLUE #3

 'tween Glendales of four, plots an plats of yore;
'twixt Parkway & Pond, find the shoe of yore.

 CLUE #4

'mid many sorts of sports & a high yield of field;
'mong many kinds of shoe & different type of ball;
Here's a simple clue, to help you win the haul.


Explanation of the Clues...

CLUE # 1

This clue is just a reminder to brush up on the rules and to purchase a Dan Patch Days button to be eligible for the prize.

 CLUE # 2

The King of Munster was Brian Boru who was the founder of the O'Brien Dynasty. The O'Brien family (three single brothers and a sister) worked a dairy farm on the land that now houses the dome.

 CLUE # 3

The Glendales of 4 are:
The north Glendale is from the top of the Plat plan of Glendale. The Plat is pictured in Nancy Huddleston's Savage, and can also be found at the Heritage Room of the Savage Library.  The South Glendale is Glendale School. The East Glendale is Glendale Road and the West Glendale is Glendale Cemetery (plots). The pond is McColl pond. The dome is amid all these points.

 CLUE #4

Many sports are played at the large field of the dome (soccer, baseball, softball, Lacrosse) requiring different types of shoes and balls.

 CLUE #5

The shoe was partially buried in the mulch under the evergreen in the landscaping of the N. W. corner of the dome
