Dan Patch Days Celebrates Over 70 Years of Community Fun!
Dan Patch Days first welcomed guests as early as 1953. There was a period of time in the late 1970's and early 1980's when there wasn't a Dan Patch Days, but then in 1989, a group of citizens resurrected it. Today, that group of citizens is known as, "Dan Patch Days Inc." Now, over 26 years later, between 8,000-10,000 people attend the four day event. Saturday & Sunday is FREE to the public. Dan Patch Days Inc. is an all-volunteer group that plans the event throughout the year.
There are many, many people to "thank" over the years, the ones that pioneered the early History of Dan Patch Days. We have some of the history listed in the many links.
In 2005, we had a first-ever event. In the past, Harold Savage participated in Dan Patch Days during the 1950's and 60's. Then in 2004, while researching material for the website, there were many 1953 photos that were found in the Dan Patch Historical Society's collection at the Savage Library. This was the catalyst for bringing the Savage descendants back, and why not include descendants of Dan Patch while we were at it. After many searches on the internet and phone calls, it became a reality. To read more about this story, check out the news articles at the Dan Patch Historical Society website.
