I recently found some Dan Patch collectibles. Will the Dan Patch Historical Society give me a value and do they purchase items?
The Dan Patch Historical Society’s main function is education. We maintain a Heritage Room at the Savage Public Library where we have several items in display cases and files. We do not purchase items. All items we have in our inventory have been donated. We acknowledge donations by letter and the donor places a value for tax purposes. For the value of items and an opportunity to sell, we refer people to EBay.
A print of three horses has been in our family for years, is it unique?
That print and several others were premiums in feed purchased from the International Stock Food Company. There were literally thousands printed and they are turning up all across the country. The value is in the framing and the quality of the print. We recently received a donation of one with a great frame and excellent quality found in a barn in Missouri .
What are the benefits of joining the Dan Patch Historical Society?
By becoming a member you will receive at least two newsletters a year and discounts on some purchases. But most of all your financial support will help us support our mission of education through our displays at the Heritage Room at the Savage Public Library and our efforts to educate the public about Dan Patch and his owner M.W. Savage.
When was the First Board meeting of the Dan Patch Historical Society?
The first meeting of the Board of Directors of the DPHS was March 24, 1992 with first directors (charter members): Del Stelling, Joe Cade, Mark McNeill, George Augustinack, Janet Williams, Hugh Cardenas, & Bill Olson.
