The depot was built in 1880, closed in Savage in 1970 and was moved to Murphy's Landing in 1973. In a joint partnership between the City of Savage and the Dan Patch Historical Society, the depot was returned to the city in the early morning of July 28th, 2006.  The fundraising effort was called "Bring the Depot Home".

Dan Patch Historical Society wishes to thank the following who made the BRING THE DEPOT HOME project a reality with their generous donations. Special thanks to Rob Fendler of Fendler Patterson Construction, Inc. who served as the general contractor for the entire project. Without his help and dedication this project would not have happened. Rob is a longtime member of the Dan Patch Historical Society.
